A recent visit from local police officers turned the Explore classroom into an episode of CSI

PCES Explore Students Join the Fight Against Crime

Third grade Explore students at Pass Christian Elementary School were given the opportunity to peek into "a day in the life of police officer." Pass Christian Elemetary School Safety Resource Officer John Dedeaux and Officer Micheal Williams of the Pass Christian Police Department presented various aspects of what it takes to fight crime in our city. The students listend as Officer Williams explained the fingerprinting process and described how and why the print data base is used by police officers across the country. The students also participated in the fingerprinting process and gained hands-on experience with the tools involved when police officers need to dust for prints. Mrs. Lori Fisher, the PCES Explore teacher, arranged for the guest speakers and presentation to correlate with the new Common Core State Standards. Thanks to her the crime fighting process has become more than just a television show to these students. It is a learning experience they will never forget!
