Principal Chief Creppel of the Houma Choctaw Nation Visits 2nd Grade

PCES Hosts Principal Chief Creppel

On Tuesday, second graders at Pass Christian Elementary School welcomed Principal Chief Creppel of the United Houma Nation based out of Houma, Louisiana.  PCES second graders have been studying Native American tribes and cultures and were very excited to learn even more about the rich heritage of the Houma Choctaw from Chief Creppel.  Chief Creppel showed the students many different hand-made toys such as moss dolls, dugout canoes, wood carvings of a turtle and bear, and a toy top.  He shared with the students how he was elected chief of his nation of 17,000.  The students were thrilled to hear songs as Chief Creppel played his drum. This was an awesome opportunity for our students to have a visual and hands-on learning experience.
