Pass Christian Elementary School is taking part in a state-wide literacy initiative, Mississippi Reads One Book, which is an all-school book club. During the next few weeks, every PCES student and PCES family will be reading the same chapter book at the same time, The World According to Humphrey by Betty Birney! This is a special time for families to spend together reading along or with their child. The aim is to build a community of readers and to promote literacy among everyone - students, parents, teachers, administrative staff and even community stakeholders! Mayor McDermott stopped by PCES last week to film a reading of the 5th chapter for the students! Businesses and community stakeholders throughout the city of Pass Christian are also showing their support of this project by displaying The World According to Humphrey posters in their business to spark even more excitement and anticipation for the students, teachers, and families of PCES! The students will explore the book in class through activities, discussion and trivia questions. During this all-school book club, students will actively be on the look-out daily for the hidden Humphrey on the PCES campus!
