Third Grade "Rocks"

Third grade students used starbursts to show the rock cycle. We started by cutting up the rocks (starbursts) into pieces to show the process of weathering. Then, we combined all of the sediments together to create a sedimentary rock. We used heat (friction from our hands) and pressure (dictionary) to create metamorphic rocks. Finally, we put the metamorphic rocks on a hot plate to melt the starbursts. We allowed the starbursts to cool and harden to show the formation of an igneous rock.
